The Top 10 PPC Mistakes

It is pretty safe to say that PPC advertising can prove to be a very lucrative venture. Those that employ a PPC strategy to promote a product or service may discover their revenues skyrocketing. However, avoiding some of the common mistakes associated with PPC campaigns is necessary for success.

Based on my own experience, I have tabulated ten of the most common PPC mistakes:

Not understanding what PPC marketing is all about is probably the most common mistake. Far too often, people will venture into the world of PPC marketing without a clear idea as to what is needed to make it work properly. Their expectations might be unrealistic and they may assume less effort is needed than what is truly required for success. Neither of these components will open the door for success and that is why a proper understanding of the process is recommended.

Weak copywriting in the text of the ads will do very little for convincing visitors to click on them. This does not mean your PPC ad needs to be the most stunning ad on the net. But, the quality of the prose in the ad needs to be engaging enough that it attracts people’s attention.

Do not overpromise in the text of the ads. While it is perfectly acceptable to make a great offer in the ad, you do not want to craft an ad that is too over the top. This will discourage serious inquiries and gin up clicks from curiosity seekers who are not really interested in making an actual purchase.

Being under-budgeted is often a surefire way to undermine a PPC campaign. You will need enough clicks so that the conversion figures attained are viable for the business to succeed. Under-budgeting your campaign will undermine your conversion stats.

Over-budgeting is just as bad as under-budgeting. You will need to have enough money in your account so that you can produce the proper number of clicks to create high conversion figures. This is something we all realize. However, if you spend far beyond what you bring in, you will suffer a loss.

Selecting weak or obtuse keywords is not helpful. When people plug keywords into the search engines, they are doing so to find appropriate websites. When your PPC ad keywords are weak they will not even come close to delivering the proper traffic amounts. That is why picking the right keywords on your PPC ads is so helpful.

Not paying attention to ad tracking reports is a huge mistake. You will always need to pay attention to the feedback you are given. If not, you will be unable to make the necessary corrections required to improve your PPC success ratio. When this is the case, you will be losing or missing out on money needlessly. Why deal with such a scenario when it simply is not necessary?

Not accepting your limitations and maintaining an aversion to hiring a PPC management service. Yes, there are costs involves with dealing with these professionals. However, the costs will eventually be paid for thanks to the increase in revenues that the professional service can deliver to your business.

Being too slow to make changes is almost as bad as not making changes at all. Always move quickly on changes when necessary.

Giving up to soon is probably the worst mistake anyone could make. Why throw in the towel when so much success is possible? Stick with your venture until it becomes lucrative!
